Hello everyone! Recently, I had the privilege of receiving a very kind invitation from Matt, the owner of bassluresuk.com in Cornwall, to come and visit his unit and take a look at the products he sells, the lures he makes, and the new products coming in the near future. I met Matt last year. I had bought some of his lures to try, and we got chatting online. He invited me to come fishing with him, which was the first of several sessions, one of which led to my personal best 62 cm bass a few weeks ago. I have learned a lot from Matt in the time I have known him, and I regard him not only as a fishing buddy but also as a good mate. He is one of the nicest guys you could meet, and when invited to BLUK HQ, how could I refuse?
A Visit to Bass Lures UK.
I asked Matt how BLUK came about, and he replied it started back in COVID lockdown. He wanted to do something related to bass fishing, which he had been doing for a long time. He came up with the idea of making and selling affordable lures for bass fishing after losing an expensive lure shortly after using it. He started off by getting a big plastic box of lures, then reselling them. Once they sold, he doubled up and repeated the process. After some time, he invested money into the equipment needed to make soft plastic lures. Matt showed me the process of making his soft plastics; it is not an easy job for anyone. A lot of time, practice, and patience goes into perfecting these. He has a range of colors that have been tested by him and proven to be bass catchers. Matt is always tweaking and experimenting with different colors, then testing them himself. If they prove successful, they get added to his color range.

Matt makes his soft plastics to order; they are then hung for 24 hours to keep straight, and then posted the next day to the customer. In the images above (courtesy of BLUK), his lures are hanging for 24 hours, and the second shows his lures packaged and ready to dispatch for his customer's order.
They also have a nice range of hard plastics, surfaces, sinkers, and diving lures in a wide range of bass-catching colours. These are supplied by the manufacturer and come with upgraded rings and hooks, or are swapped by Matt for high-spec rings/hooks. These lures come in different shapes and sizes and are all tested to catch bass. Any colors that don't catch when tested are not stocked. The lures come in nice packaging; see the image below with the bass lures logo on the front, designed for bass with information on the back.

BLUK also stocks a wide range of accessories, braid, weighted and non-weighted hooks for soft plastics, and other lures from Redgill and Sedra being some. I liked the new Cornish Conehead weighted hooks, which have been made to Matt's specifications; they have received very good feedback on them. There are also many other products which you can check out on the bassluresuk.com website.
BLUK also sells rod & reel combos. Matt showed me the all-round combo he sells, consisting of an 8' 10" rod and a 3000 reel. He has been using this setup for over 3 years, sold many to customers, and received exceptional feedback on them. I was blown away by the quality of both the rod and the reel; the rod is a 2025 model with some upgrades to which Matt provided feedback to the manufacturers. The rods and reels are manufactured by Tsurinoya, a high-quality Chinese company that makes some excellent tackle. Like Matt said, he has been using these rods and reels for over three years and has caught hundreds of bass on them. At a special combo price of £145, this is one hell of a deal for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot. There are 4 different combos offering 4 different rod lengths and 3000 & 4000 size reels. As I mentioned earlier, the quality of this combo impressed me so much that I bought one; for this price, I can’t go wrong. BLUK imports them directly from the manufacturer. Also, in the unfortunate instance that you break a top section, spares can be obtained for around £30, very impressive. Check them out on the website.
There are some new products being tested or coming; I was lucky to have a sneak peek of some, and again, super quality products at very affordable prices. I was honored and privileged to be invited and shown behind the scenes of BLUK. A huge thank you to Matt; please check out his website bassluresuk.com. All their products are top quality, and their lures are all tested and proven to catch bass.
