Part 1: Unboxing and Preview.

Since I got back into lure fishing, I have been wearing a pair of Vass 700 thigh waders; they have done the job, but a couple of times I have been close to getting out of my depth. I wanted to get a pair of chest waders, but the thing is, I would rarely get into a depth where I would need them. So I searched for breathable waist waders and found some Kinetic X5 waist waders that would suit my needs.

As these waders come with built-in neoprene socks, I was going to need some wading boots, but which ones? There is a wide variety of them available, ranging from lower-priced options to more expensive ones. There was also the option to buy cheaper work boots and use them, which I was tempted to consider, adding some boot studs to them. Or should I go for more expensive wading boots, which I was more reluctant to do, as most are for freshwater and being used in the sea with the salt and sand, I was not so keen to take this route.

Having my own Facebook group here and being in other groups has its benefits. I made a post in my group and another group, and saw what others were using. Some were wearing work boots, while some had proper wading boots, but the majority responded that they had come back and were using a boot called the Bestard Sar Pro water rescue boots. Lots of guys recommended them, saying they were the best boots they had purchased, properly looked after, and some were being worn for 3-4 seasons. I also read Henry Gilbey's review of them. I contacted a couple of guys and asked them, and they both replied that these were the best boots to get.

I decided to contact R3 SAR Gear, who sell these boots, for some more information. I also mentioned I have my website and would like to do a review on these boots for my site. They happily agreed, and I ordered a pair of the boots.

A couple of days later, my boots arrived. Being a size 9, I went a couple of sizes bigger; I got size 11. Along with the boots, you receive an info booklet and some spare boot liners.

The boots are made of cutting-edge materials that provide durability and maximum resistance to wear and tear from abrasion and water contact.

As this is part 1, after I have been wearing these boots for a while, I will do part 2 of the review. You can check out these boots at R3 SAR GEAR here or on the Bestard website here.

If you would like to purchase a pair of these boots, I have a 10% discount code for Kernow Bass members to use on the R3 SAR GEAR website. Enter BASS10 at checkout. Tight lines, everyone. Steve @ Kernow Bass.

Conclusion.

The grip on these boots is a non-marking Vibram. The Idrogrip outsole provides excellent grip on wet and slippery surfaces. I am going to add some Supatracks boot studs to this for added grip.

The boot design, along with its lightness and lacing system, allows for plenty of adjustments to give you high support, comfort, and freedom of movement. It also has reflective strips and an efficient water drainage system inside the boot. Additionally, it features an inbuilt gaiter to help prevent rocks and debris from entering the boot. This image above shows the boot over the wader sock. They feel very comfortable on the feet for walking in.

With the Kinetic X5 waist waders down and the lace grip attached, everything looks neat, and I'm ready to test them out in some fishing sessions.
