Supatracks 1100 Boot Studs Review.

TACKLE REVIEWS.

The Review.

My main lure fishing is done in estuaries. I have been using Vass thigh waders and have a pair of Vass chest waders, but I don't tend to wade very deep. I wear them if the need arises. The ground is very rocky and covered in bladder wrack weed, which tends to be very slippery and potentially very dangerous.

So, the need for any help with grip is a must for me. Back in 2024, I looked for some boot studs and read some reviews on different brands. I heard about the Supatracks studs website here; they have some different sizes for various boots and terrains.

I decided to buy their size 1100 ones here. I first fitted them to my chest waders and later to my thigh waders. I was amazed at how much grip they give you when walking over the weed-covered rocks. You can still slip a little sometimes, but the studs seem to grip quickly.

You can buy the studs in whatever quantity you wish. There is also a kit where you get a tool that is necessary for installing the studs (see image above). Once you have the tool, you can purchase extra studs as you need them.

Conclusion.

Having just changed over to breathable waist waders, I needed to get some wading boots. I went for a pair of Bestard S&R Pro Water Rescue Boots, unboxing and preview here, so it was a matter of getting some more studs and fitting them. Here is a close-up image above.

And here is the final result above the image: 12 studs fitted to each boot, and all set for trying out my new boots. The soles were quite hard on these boots, and a couple were a bit difficult to get exactly right, but overall they are looking good.

The Supatracks 1100 Boot Studs suit my needs for my lure fishing. These are the shortest studs they offer; you can put in longer ones if you wish, but I find these adequate for me. I also use a cheap telescopic walking pole when going over rough ground, which helps a lot too, especially if you're not very stable on your feet.

I would recommend anyone looking for some boot studs to check these studs out, but there are also some alternatives out there. I have noticed on my last two orders that some are a little bent, and this will not help when screwing them into your boots. These studs should not have been sent out, and it is poor from Supatracks not to check these better.

I just wanted to add a note on safety when using these studs that we are walking on some pretty extreme terrain sometimes. Although these studs are great to help with grip, they are not going to stop you from slipping or falling 100%. I found this out for myself at the beginning of June 2025 when I wanted to climb up a steep place. Although I thought I had a good grip, I didn’t, and I slipped and bashed my knee on a jagged rock. Luckily, I didn’t break my kneecap, but my leg from the knee to the ankle was black for 3 weeks. It was a lesson learned and could have been more serious, and a big wake-up call for me. Be careful out there, guys and girls. Tight Lines, Steve @ Kernow Bass.
