YGK Nitlon DFC Fluorocarbon Review.

There is a vast array of Fluorocarbon for us anglers on the market; every manufacturer of braid most likely sells their own brand of Fluorocarbon. Varivas, Savage Gear, and Berkley are a few to name. I have tried a couple of these brands, but I wanted to know what some of the guys who have been bass lure anglers for years were using. They have tried and tested loads of different makes and will have found out what is best suitable on the market.

Never be afraid to ask a question, so that’s what I did, in a few groups on Facebook. I always find a lot of guys will want to help you; the response was great and the top result that came back was the YGK Nitlon DFC Fluorocarbon.

Since I have been using this fluorocarbon, I have been absolutely delighted with it. I have tried the Alberto, Improved Albright, and FG knots with this, and all have been fantastic. When I have been unfortunate enough to have to pull for a break, this fluorocarbon is tough, and usually, the braid breaks first.

This fluorocarbon can be a bit pricey at between £18-22 per spool, but this stuff is pretty tough. If, like me, you like shorter leaders around 2m, you’re going to get 50 leaders from a spool. I have used a leader through several sessions; just run it through your fingers to check for any abrasion, and, like me, I sometimes re-tie the knot if it looks a bit damaged. If you do a bit of searching and can wait for it, I have sourced it online for a third of the price, which makes it even better value for money.

Would I recommend this? Absolutely! I don't think I will change to something else. I bought a couple of spools of each weight for a cheaper price, so it will last me ages. I always say find a brand you like, try 2 or 3 out, and pick the one that suits you best for your fishing. This is my favorite. Thanks for reading my review. Tight lines, Steve @ Kernow Bass.

The YGK Nitlon DFC Fluorocarbon is made in Japan. Some of its features are that it is a high performance premium 100% fluorocarbon, which makes it an ideal lure leader. Being clear, it is nearly invisible underwater; it comes with high abrasion resistance, is very supple, and has good knot strength.

Supplied in handy hard dispenser spools are several different breaking strains, of which I am using 14lb & 16lb in 100m spools for my estuary fishing and stepping it up to 25lb in 70m spools for coast fishing or rougher ground.
